Motion to approve Treasurer’s Report:
Ayes: All
Nays: None Motion Approved
Old Business:
Brian has met with the roads department of Dekalb County. The county has no money to improve roads. HPPOA may partner with the county to do the worst sections. Cost to the association would be $10,000 for 200-250 ft. Motion was made by Patrick Spear and seconded by Mark Sanders to approve $10,000 intended for the road repairs in 2024. It will be at the discretions of John Neely which sections to be repaired. Motion carried.
Next order of business was the deteration of the “S” curve. Neely Construction could repair and owner chip in for the repair. HPPOA would indemnify the Neely Construction for preliminary work and subsequent work on remediating the cut back. The county would have to approve. Motion was made by Bert Laws and seconded by Patrick Spears for Neely Construction to proceed with preliminary work.
Other business on the agenda was discussion of updating the covenants. Many things have changed in 24 years. A lawyer has been contacted to help draw up a new and appropriate covenant that complies with current TN law. The cost would be $2500. Motion was made to rewrite the covenants and bring them up to TN law by Bert Laws, seconded by Rory Lithgow. Norma Rice was appointed to serve on the committee to rewrite the covenants. After we receive new covenants, there will be a referendum and vote by the whole association on the revisions.
Also brought up was the buying a salt spreader and buying salt from the county. It would be used when we have a snowstorm and residents can’t get out. It will be kept at yet to be decided home. Motion was made by Joy Bidwell and seconded Mark Sanders that the association purchase a salt spreader.
Board elections:
New Board members were on the agenda next. Brian Hueser was elected to another 2 year term. Angie Lithgow was then elected to serve 2 years.
