The annual meeting of the Harbor Pointe Homeowners Association was held at the home of Bill and Sharon Sheriff on February 20, 2010. Lot owners present were: Enrique Arevalos, Mary Johnston, Jim Kelly, Randal and Janice Mashburn, Chad and Heather McGee, Yoli and Pete Redero, Bill and Sharon Sheriff, Darren Way, Sid Weissend, Jennifer and David Windle and Steve and Lynn Youngblood.
It was noted that notice by mail was given to all property owners of record of the meeting and that those present in person and by proxy constituted a quorum for the meeting. Enrique Arevalos, President of the association, called the meeting to order.
The first item of business was the treasure’s report given by Enrique in Kelly Mason’s absence. He reviewed the balances and disbursements.
The next item of business was the election of three directors for 2 year terms each to fill the 3 positions expiring this year. Motion was made, seconded to elect Enrique Arevalos, Yoli Redero and Jim Kelly to the 2 year terms. Motion passed by unanimous vote. Officers will be elected at the next board meeting.
The Architecture Review Committee reported the Cooke’s home is 90% complete. The Redero plans have been approved and McGee plans have been reviewed.
The web site was then discussed. Habor Pointe Homeowners Association web site is: harborpointecenterhill.com and the password is: hplakehouse025.
So far there is only the directory on the web site. People were asked to go to the web site and confirm that the information posted is correct. If any information is incorrect notify Sharon Sheriff. To be added later will be a bulletin board, important emergency numbers and recommended service people.
The being no further formal business the meeting was adjourned and opened up for other discussions.
A discussion was held on the roadside mowing and maintenance. The current contractor is not doing a good job. Jim Kelly will get a bid from Bruce Thompson on doing the work and confirming that he will do other lot owners as requested. It was also suggested that the area around the fire hydrants should be maintained as well.
There was a question regarding short term rental in Harbor Pointe. The Covenants do not address the issue. It was suggested consideration be given to amend the covenants to restrict short term rentals. It was noted that it takes 75% vote of association to pass an amendment.
Enrique reported there had been a burglary at Andrea Selby’s home in the fall. No other Harbor Pointe residents present were aware of any other incidents. It was suggested that residents call the Sheriff’s department and request a regular patrol of the area.
It was again discussed and clarified that the annual assessments are not voluntary. It was confirmed that the association would pursue legal processes for unpaid assessments. It was confirmed we are allowed to also collect legal fees and expenses in collection of the association assessments. While the majority of the lot owners and residents have paid it was suggested we not wait too long before taking legal action.
Respectfully submitted,
Bill Sheriff
